2 Poems: ‘One Shoulder Heard the Other’s Echo’ and ‘Waking into a Dream’

2 Poems by BW Derge from "Pillars of Salt, Book Two: Fuck Your Tea and Crumpets" - written in 2005. "One Shoulder Heard the Other's Echo" & "Waking into a Dream"

One Shoulder Heard the Other's Echo

Worlds twirl all around me

Spinning with winds

Amidst forces embedded with love

A friendly global reality

Above concerns of everyone

-

But whatever-

I feel as though I am in a cradle

Rocking and smiling

Never feeling so free again

Acceptance just another dream

Variables in seeds about to sprout

My mind is clawing its way out

My body experiences the truth

Of only the soul surviving

But something more explicit holds

-

The Earth locked me inside a closet

Where I hid for days and years

Until I followed some little firefly

Who led me to a clarified thought:

There is an eternal thing inside us-

-

My demons rest until I find privacy

Darkness layered like cement

Emotions based on the perspective

Of things said but never truth-

A useful tool for the devil

Atop my left shoulder

Waking into a Dream

I woke up in a dream

In a field looking around

Picking up milkweed

Until I turned around-

Saw brick walls of a town

-

I try to make sense

Of this ever expanding dream

Creating new worlds

Engulfing me into machines

And I don’t know what to do

-

Engulfing me into Machines - line from poem by BW Derge

Grow & Evolve

For the love of God-

Become alive!

Perception just a thought

Thinking holy life forever

-

Dear God-

The truth has fisted through

Into this dream I awoke into

And whatever I must wake into

Whenever I awake from this

It will be just another dream

As well
