In this chapter of an untitled project about a drunk writer named Steve, another anonymous quote and Steve continues to hang out with his friend Freddy.
Steve, part 14: “Under the Floor”
“He was really just… quiet. I met him after he had already started to lose it.
I mean, don’t get me wrong. I think he had some brains at some point in his life. But somewhere along the road… he just fell apart. He broke. He drank himself under the floor and frankly, I couldn’t care less about where the hell he is right now.
But if you do find him… well, he still owes me 20 bucks.”

Hand Over that Bottle
Freddy tilted the whiskey bottle to fill two shot glasses. He picked them up and handed one over to Steve. The two young men threw the liquor at their throats.
“Damn,” Freddy exclaimed as his face wrinkled. “That stings.”
“Dude…” An odd smile spread across Steve’s face. “Hand over that bottle. I’ll show you how a man drinks.”
Freddy handed it over, shaking his head. “I’m going to pack another bowl.”
Steve chugged a large swig straight from the bottle. “Go for it.”
“So what have you been up to, man?”
Steve shrugged. “Drinking mostly… and, uh, writing.” There was small pause. “I don’t know. I went to the dentist the other day.”
“How was that?”
Steve chuckled. “A bunch of bullshit.”
But if you do find him… well, he still owes me 20 bucks.”
